Tree removal by state and city
Tree problems are regional. Hurricanes, ice storms, monsoon winds, drought and local pests all change what fails and when. Permit rules range from none to strict. Each guide is researched individually, and permit rules are listed only when we could confirm them with an official source.
All states
Linked states have a published guide. The others are still being researched. You can still call from anywhere in the U.S.

How local guides work
Every state and city guide is written from local conditions: the storms, soils, pests and species that actually drive tree problems there. We don't create a page until we have something specific to say.
What changes place to place
Storm types and seasons, which species fail most, the right pruning windows (like oak wilt timing in Texas), and whether trees near the street belong to the city.
Permits
Rules range from none on private lots to permits for nearly every tree. We summarize verified rules with dated sources, but always confirm with your city or county.
Need help with a tree?
Call to speak with a local tree-service provider about removal, trimming, stumps or storm damage. Describe the tree and what it's near, and they'll explain the next step.
